'Martin makes space' at Darmstadt

17.09.2022: Tour-Stop during the Parking Day "Martin makes space " in Darmstadt

Our goal is to work with citizens, students, scientists, architects and designers to advance design ideas for social, urban and cultural developments and thus strengthen the sustainable design of our region. We would like to use the application year 2022 to start the discourse on "Design for Democracy" on different levels, to focus on citizen participation and to incorporate ideas from young people. Therefore, we travelled for six weeks with our red workshop van through the entire region in order to exchange ideas directly on site in the cities and municipalities.

„Martin makes space“ is an action day related to the concept „Park(ing) Day“

"Martin makes space" is a day of action based on "Park(ing) Day" with the aim of re-urbanising city districts. To this end, we use public street spaces (dominated by cars) in a different way for one day, for example as a green oasis, plant island, gastronomy or seating area. Several street festivals are planned throughout the summer, at intervals of one month. We invite you to make yourself comfortable in this beautiful avenue. Feel free to bring picnics, deckchairs and anything else you can use to make this space your own. "Martin macht Platz" is organised by a broad civil society action alliance. Participants include: VCD Darmstadt-Dieburg, Transition Town Darmstadt, das blumen e.V., Architects4Future and heiner*blocks.
