We would like to thank all the entrants for their design ideas.
The many different impulses were incorporated into the final preparation of the application for Frankfurt RheinMain as World Design Capital 2026 with the claim Design for Democracy. Atmospheres fo a better life, which was submitted to the World Design Organization in Canada at the end of March 2023.
Frankfurt RheinMain had been on the shortlist of two finalists since 20 June 2023.
On 11 September, the World Design Organization announced its final decision that Frankfurt RheinMain may bear the title World Design Capital 2026!

Tour through the region 2022
Design for Democracy was on the road for 7 weeks in Frankfurt RheinMain
As part of the application, a tour of the entire RhineMain region took place from 8 September to 23 October 2022. A workshop van stopped at up to 20 stations. Young designers offered workshops for schoolchildren and open, participatory offers on site. In addition, numerous actors and initiatives participated in the individual tour locations with programmes on the topic of Design for Democracy.
